    During the 1990s Snapple iced tea craze, I was there in the crowds, Snapple iced tea peach flavor took over my life, It turned me into a hooligan, The popping sound when opening the Snapple bottle made something in my brain click and I turned into an iced tea animal. My life went downhill to its lowest when someone offered me a coffee. I woke up in a prison cell, only to face a judge who happen to have a Snapple bottle on his bench, I lunged at him...

    I’ve been a severe alcoholic, I drank over 60 gallons of vodka in less than a year, but I’ve never exhibited any of these symptoms. So, no I don’t think this is what happens to a genuine alcoholic.

      Yes yes, and also at all the parties you are the funny guy and not the drunk who makes everyone uncomfortable, it is the typical perception of an alcoholic not wanting to recognize his addiction

    He was actually really, really drunk in this scene. If you watch the Vanity Fair interview where he watches scenes from his own movies, he speaks of this scene. He explains what his inspiration was, how risky it was to get that drunk for a scene, how they wanted to (and got it) on the first take, and how his own personal pain came out in this being that he was currently in a custody battle over his kid.

    This movie is not only a cautionary tale, but a horrifying one in every respect. Ben and Sera are both tragic figures. Yet their relationship was a beautiful one.

    According to Nic Cage himself he was sober for the whole movie but wanted to do one scene actually drunk. The casino bit is where he actually got completely wasted for the scene.

    A moment to all us alcohols watching this. I'm one too. We've all been there, sometimes relapses happen.. just like me right now. And although they do.. I beg you with every atom of my soul that you dont relapse. It ain't fun. Sober is better. And this isn't some AA bs.. Drunk doesn't kill that bit we're trying to numb. Because a soder mind is a better mind. Keep fighting dude's. you got this.

    After 11 years completely sober, 14 years while drinking (starting and stopping twice, mostly partying, but borderline binging at times) I can wholeheartedly say this is what I would be like if I went full throttle.

    • @T-800..
      @T-800.. 6 місяців тому

      Dude, I'll keep it short.. binged drank most of you youth, 3 years of full alcoholism, 4 years sober after detox then busy fighting a relapse right now. We've both been at that fridge, that waking up in the middle of the night, sweating like you've just came out of the shower, just wanting to go back to sleep and not wanting have to get up for that drink. I know my dude, I really do. But you beat my 4 years with you 11 so, applause to you man.. absolutely applause. This ain't a disease, its a curse. It's like fighting a losing battle. But warriors never stop fighting. Don't go gull throttle, please, because the brakes don't work so well ❤

      Oddly enough, I am an alcoholic but I always stayed JUUUUUST behaved enough to justify my disease by saying “oh I was just having fun” or “we were just young and crazy”. Strange enough, people believed me and thus, I was enabled to continue. I didn’t realize I had a problem until I realized I was no longer “the fun drunk”. I was the quiet, brooding, dark drunk. That’s when I recognized that things had taken a drastic turn for the worse. A DWI, several significant events and a near death crash or so later, and I’m better. I’ll occasionally drink but I never get that way anymore.

    You have to have to have booze when you wake up. Youre so sick but the alcohol makes it better. But it prolongs the drunk. Its a catch 22. Its a real thing. Alcohol is a trip.
